A fixture in the label and packaging industry, Thomas Staib, president and owner of DWS Printing, has passed away at the age of 56. Beloved husband of Jean and loving father of TJ and Carly, Staib passed on October 2, 2020.

Tom is also survived by mother Edith, sister Kathy Staib Cox and brother Andrew. He will be remembered as a terrific father and the fun-loving uncle of many nieces and nephews.

Tom grew up in Huntington Bay, Long Island, where he loved boating, skiing and family travels, especially his summer vacations at Corlear Bay, Lake Champlain, NY. Tom graduated from the Hill School, PA and then Villanova University in 1987 with a degree in finance/ He had spent summers working with his father, Allen, at DWS, occupying several roles that included packing labels in the back of the shop. While many of his friends were pursuing jobs on Wall Street, Tom had printing in his blood. He would ultimately become the company’s fourth-generation president.

Tom, along with Andy and Kathy, helped continue the family legacy at DWS. The Staibs helped grow the company, which now employs 50 people in a 37,000 square-foot space on Long Island.

Tom’s passion and commitment to the success of DWS was recognized in multiple news media, trade associations, and keynote speaking events. Tom was also enthusiastic about DWS’ recent expansion into Austin TX. He could often be seen at industry events, ranging from TLMI and PIA to FLAG/IPW events. Tom’s passion for cooking, pig roasts, Grateful Dead music, drumming, woodworking, Villanova basketball, and Giants football was unparalleled. He is deeply loved and will be forever missed by his family and many friends.
